Loss.

There has been a ton of loss here at PBU lately.
An excellent man of God,
who served Jesus faithfully and wisely,
passed away yesterday afternoon.

He was a man, visibly humble,
world class in his art form,
who used piano to praise his creator and redeemer.

Last night, gathered on the walkway to celebrate Christmas,
our President addressed us.
He spoke about the sadness and pain of losing Dr. Hsu and others,
and read Luke 2.
Among brothers and sisters, huddled on the walkway,
we listened to our President read of incarnation,
of God becoming man,
to love and save this fallen world.

Without dismissing the sadness of this season for the university,
we worshipped our Lord,
pain in the offering,
together.

The Christmas story is more than narrative,
it's more than happy traditions,
cookies,
and snow.

The fact of God becoming man for us,
coming to save us out of the throne room of heaven,
and loving us enough to die
brings real hope and comfort to those grieving.

Sadness remains, but Christ is real.
