If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor.

for real...

I hate snow.

I know, I know...I'm like pretty much the only one.
But my hatred is for real.
My roommate commented yesterday how well I was doing,
because I was not in tears.

But nevertheless-

life goes on, I suppose.

[the transition to the fall/winter school bag]
[beautiful roommate begins a new masterpiece]

winter walk
dinner with a long lost friend
[I'm making curry, what else?]
possibly cookies
and a gym visit.

my days lately

have been mostly with Abby,
and coffee,
and homework.

this weekend

ice-cream with friends

the boyfriend visits

the agora conference here at PBU

lunch with some friends
[who let me work with them on their awesome event]

and down time.

And beyond all these things put on love,
which is the perfect bond of unity.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called, in one body;
and be thankful.
Colossians 3:15

thank you, thank you

For he delivered us from the domain of darkness,
and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son,
in whom we have redemption and forgiveness of sins.
And he is the image of the invisible God,
the first born of all creation.
For by him all things were created,
both in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-
all things have been created by him
and for him.
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Colossians 1:13-16

[pretty fall weather]
[beautiful flowers from some good friends]
[yummy snack- curried cous cous with raisins and black tea]

laundry, bank, errands
relational style paper
and going to see this guy.

good day.

class notes.

I love class.

One of my grad professors clearly does not use an outline.
He's one of those really great thinkers.
He'll randomly walk up to the smart board and block letters with his hands
because he noticed that it says "we aliens" when he does it.
Jump from subject to subject.
Bring you right to the verge of understanding something,
and then tell you you need to think about it much more on your own.

My notes in his class are all over the place.
They're like a web.
Lots of arrows and underlines, weird parentheticals.
But the things we're talking about there,
are connecting everywhere else.

PBU's favorite topic-
is really starting to get fleshed out for me.

Here's what did it:

God's worldview is essentially this- himself.
God's worldview is that he is the greatest, most pleasurable,
most important thing there is.

really grateful for class.

dub stepping
and laughing hysterically

where I will drink so much cider

setting up an art gallery for student work
[so happy]

and enjoying my life in Christ.

dear mary

Dear Mary,

just because you did a lot of work that you didn't mind
that totally wasn't due tomorrow,

doesn't mean you can take a million hour long break to watch madmen and glee
and not study for the midterm

that you have tomorrow.

[who doesn't want to fail.]

it's her birthday today

and this is how we roll.

Dear Grace,
I don't think I could be prouder of you.
You have matured and grown up in all of these awesome ways
that make it so easy to call you one of my best friends.
You are hilarious, beautiful, and considerate.
You love Jesus, and serve him well.
And you are still my favorite person to go shopping with in the whole world.
I bet year 20 is going to be amazing.
Love you.

this could be less exciting to you than it is to me but...

I found Lily PJ's!!

This was a big event.
[as you can tell by my roommates pointing frenziedly in the background.]

They are folded neatly at the bottom of my bed right now,
like the prized possession they are.

Other things in my life:

finally getting back to reading The Love Wife by Gish Jen

laughing at every typo that happens as I write papers
[my roommates love/hate this]

long runs in this happy fall weather

making emergency nachos for Abby
[in between classes hunger counts as an emergency for our apartment]

writing papers for counseling and neuroscience

and this:

Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.
Not that we are adequate in ourselves
to consider anything as coming from ourselves,
but our adequacy is from God.

2 Corinthians 3:4,5

this really happened.

we threw an old school garden party
for all of PBU
and it was awesome.

I mean... our President came.

so grateful

for the 8 other people in these pictures
for beautiful weather
for all the help we all had that day
for being able to pray with my team before the biggest event we've ever done
for a boss that believed we could do it and supported us the whole time
for roommates that made me coffee
went shopping for party supplies
and told me I was going to survive

and for my first weekend so far at school without a big event coming up!

happy homecoming, happy october, happy fall weather!
