If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor.

this is sparta!

I was just going to write "this is summer!"
but then the movie 300 popped into my head.
[and i cannot resist that movie-seriously]

so... this is summer.
and i like it.

a little while ago...

graduating roomie, graduating best friend.

the sky was beautiful leaving work the other night.

walking around Westfield

catching moments like these in the car
[touching, obviously. we're so in sync! must be made for each other.]

eating the rest of my penny candy from Caleb and Amanda's wedding.
[which was gorgeous by the way.]

making dinner for Greg
[spaghetti squash + grapefruit lemon custard for dessert]

church, lunch at panera, sitting out in the sunshine.

note the book i'm supposed to be studying,
buried deep beneath my cookbooks and bible.

once again, "studying"

my lame attempt at a fishtail braid and new sunglasses!

watering the flowers.

and snacking on this delicious gem.
and yes, before you ask... I did think the fork was a classy touch for this picture.

some more reading,
breakfast with the boy,
swimming and a barbeque with friends,
and lots of love.

happy memorial day weekend!
[let the wearing white, barbeques, and pool hopping begin!]

there is no

big news here,
no pregnancy news or impending marriage.
there is no high powered job,
no office ready outfits everyday.
no tiny babies with their cute faces
or even very many good pictures lately.
I get ready for work by throwing on a pair of long spandex
and a big t shirt
throwing my hair up on top of my head
and mentally preparing myself for the amount of chalk that will soon be all over me.

but, big news, cute babies, nice outfits or not...

I get to see girls I love at work everyday.
Greg and I are finally within an hour of each other.
I have a bed that's big enough to roll over in.
A kitchen that works
and groceries to cook with.
I watched two episodes of glee this morning with a girl I love,
Ate a gigantic breakfast at the dinner with my Dad,
and sat on the porch to read my bible in the sun.

so big news or not,
I'm a happy girl.

you know what's the best?

that it's finally summer.

the season for picnics
and dates outside
the beach
reading what's interesting to me
cooking dinner
seeing friends from home
general loveliness.

this morning I read this.

I have seen his ways, but I will heal him;
I will guide him and restore comfort to him,
creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel.

Peace, peace, to those far and near,
says the Lord,
And I will heal them.

Isaiah 57:18-19

and this afternoon, I'm going to

read about human development,
eat some hummus,
and go hang out with my friends/coach gymnastics/get paid.

life is good.

that familiar day.

Except for this year, my two best friends at school are graduating.
And not just leaving the university,
but leaving, leaving.

Like...Colorado leaving.
And foreign country leaving.

I screamed so loud at the ceremony for them that
the toddler being held next to me...
well, let's just say she was a little frightened

Today I am grateful:

for the impending summer
for Anna, for Sarah
for how well provided for I am
[I mean, moving sure makes you realize how much you have.]
for a job I'm excited for this summer
for the glorious weather
for the university
[singing In Christ Alone and
Great is Thy Faithfulness at graduation was a reminder
of how good we have it here]
for professors that hug students when they walk across the stage
that our Lord is faithful, even if he doesn't come back today.

Praying for those who have built their life upon this date.

Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you:
Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
Isaiah 26:8

enjoy this beautiful weather!

I have learned

i like skylines.
[as you will see if you make it through this whole post]

the institute of contemporary art is always free

sometimes you just need to slip into cosi for a hummus sandwich
[to get out of torrential downpour]

magic gardens is on south street!

this place sells my dream crayons.

Anna's a cutie pie.
[and has an extreme aversion to parking structures]

we like blue nail polish.
[and each other]

I can't resist a two finger ring.

spin art!?!?!?

institute of contemporary art
[with an fiber sculpture installation exhibit that blew my mind]
some new dresses, jewelry, big floppy hat
south street
Johnny Rocket's milk shake
some solid city driving
with the ex-roommate/best friend.

my last final
[finished! yes!]
breakfast with a lovely friend
[so glad we got to catch up]
rain, rain, rain
and packing.

Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself,
"The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him."

Lamentations 3:22-24

new every morning!

well good morning!

I slept through my alarm.
[like three times]

I've been fooling around with editing recently,
and I like these, so I thought I'd share.

mostly because I did next to no packing yesterday,
the pressure's on to pack.

I'm going to throw on some Pandora,
make myself some hot chocolate
[I've gotta get rid of it before we move out!]
and get going.
[I think I have about 19 uhauls worth of stuff.]
[also- Greg drives a sudan.]

There may or may not be some clothing exchanges going on
between Alyssa and I,
but at some point there will definitely be a coffee break.
[thank goodness]

But before all that-
I'm grabbing my Bible.
Today is way too crazy to start without it.
[without Him]

rain, rain

go away.

Yep, that would be great.

Right now I am...

1. snuggled up underneath the covers and this quillow
[yes quillow, a quilt that folds up into a pillow]
I made in eighth grade.
Super cool.

2. really glad all my papers are finished for the semester-
just one more test and i'm done for Spring 2011!

3. exhausted.
This is what happens when you break out the bananagrams at midnight.
uh oh.

4. trying to convince myself to get up out of my bed and start packing...
but then I find something exciting on stumbleupon
or one of you writes an awesome blog post
or something,
and I just stay put.

taking the art down from our walls
[sad, sad, sad]
breaking out some boxes for my clothes and extra linens
filling out my Sociology study guide
a phone date with Gregory
lots of peach mango tea
continuing to be blown away by Isaiah 55.

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
   come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
   come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
   without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow
   come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
   without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my Word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

here's hoping you have an absolutely lovely
purposeful and meaningful

some shots from da weekend

We had a picnic in the backyard of our apartment complex
to congratulate the seniors on graduation coming up.

The weather was great, the food was good,
and I attempted to learn some new Frisbee tricks
[the operative word being attempted].

our centerpieces

so many delicious pies!

our most festive backyard picnic attire

Grace and I got hungry...

so we hopped up on the tail gate and ate our hotdogs

and surveyed the party.

What a beauty.

one of my lovely residents!

On Saturday, my boss had a birthday party for his kids
Giselle (3)
and Evan IV (1).
But not just any party.
Oh no.
Princess and Pirate birthday party in the Park.
[and yes, the above picture is my boss]

Check out that precious baby pirate.
[and his gold earring]

And last night, Alyssa and I
together with all of our dear teammates
went to the PBU Athletics banquet.

Glad I got to sit next to that girl,
because otherwise the lack of spoons to eat our mousse with
would have been unbearable.

gym visit
study date
final for night class
last Bible study of the semester
and gigantic sleepover
[everyone bring your mattress to my apartment!]

hope your weekend and your Monday are absolutely
