If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor.

...are my favorite pastime.

Ok well maybe not my favorite favorite, but it feels good to get something done.
My To-Do List is getting smaller and smaller [yes!!]
and I'm super focused/motivated,
which means...
a homework free Saturday when Greg comes to visit!

other things that make my heart happy today:

love, love, love

thank you, stumbleupon!

This front door of a shed at home reminds me of a coral reef.
Or at least those crazy fish.

Our kitchen wall.
Afros and prints of fowl.
Typical (?).

My wonderful friend Natalie.
{This is a shot from our trip to Florida.}

And that unexpected orange/blue combo. It's been poppin' up everywhere lately.
I like.

New Orleans.
Miss it so much!

Today's plan:
with a side of Rachmaninov,
and whoever else comes up on my study playlist,
some hot chocolate
[it's rainy],
and a coffee date tonight!

Not bad, folks.

Hope your day is just as nice!

this guy

...makes me smile.
[ridiculously big, obviously.]

It seems some of my teachers had a meeting at some point
and decided that this week should be the time where all the papers are due.
It's possible that the decided over a casual chat
or that they never really had that meeting and I'm being dramatic,
but either way...
I hope it's a productive afternoon.

Here's what I'll be trying not to think about this afternoon as I work away...

[can anyone do this on themselves? because my arms usually fall asleep or cramp up when I try...embarrassing.]

...so hopefully that's my next vacation spot.

my gypsy necklaces.
I couldn't stop playing with them in class today.
Too much fun.

Also, to my great surprise, I was Wiggled!
Thanks Blair!

PS- For all my friends and blog friends who are waiting on something they want or need,
I read this the other day and was so encouraged.

Yes Lord, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you:
Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
Isaiah 26:8

this is a nice day...

it's sunny, and not terribly cold.
[walk weather, if I've ever seen it]
I'm on a roll with some papers that are due this week.

when I look down to type, my nails look like this:

sometimes cool pictures come out of nowhere.

 I really love my room.

my boyfriend is awesome.
[he took this at the arboretum at the end of spring break.]

I have a half Wawa peach iced tea half water with ice!
and my window's open!

I want this:

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with God's people who are in need.
Practice hospitality.
Romans 12:9-13

I'll be working on it for a while, I think.

Hope ya'll are having a lovely day as well!

definitely time

for spring cleaning.
And oh man, is there a lot to do.

obviously, I'm distraught.

So, I'm going to get going on that, because I have night class
and super awesome bible study tonight.
And I don't want the girls that come over to study Scripture
to have to move over because there are literally piles of garbage everywhere.

So here's some awesome for ya'll.

aaaand the cutest cousins of all time.
They're a little older now, but still... I love these.

Hope your day is filled with cleaning!
Oh wait... that's mine.

and sunday comes afterwards...

some favorites.

This third I will bring into the fire;
I will refine them like silver
and test them like gold.
They will call on my name
and I will answer them;
I will say, 'They are my people'
and they will say, 'The Lord is our God.'

Zechariah 13:7
[cf. Matthew 26:31]

Thankful for:
*being refined like gold
*coconut coffee from DD this morning
[*ladies behind the counter at DD telling me that a button on my shirt had popped open...yikes]
*grapefruit from Saritha
*the gallery being wonderful, successful, and giving PBU artists credit where it's definitely due
*time to read, plan, sleep, pray

Hope your Saturday is wonderful!

I've been thinking.
Where does big-picture love meet little-picture love?

Big-picture love:
passion and care for issues like poverty, sex trafficking, global missions and the people involved in them.

Little-picture love:
Mentoring, discipleship, being a good friend and family member, caring for my relationship with God, etc.

When you're in it...

watching beautiful kids go back to their homes made of cardboard and scraps of metal,
seeing just how many of those tiny houses there are...

your heart swells, full of compassion and pain.

But when you're far away...

it's so easy to become complacent and numb.

Over Spring Break I went to an exhibit of sorts at church called Project Experience.

I was moved, then angered.
How am I so easily moved, then so easily forget?
Feel so entitled to my healthy, happy, loved life.

I'm discovering that it takes real work to remain compassionate in such a blessed lifestyle.
I want to commit to that work.
To keep my big-picture love alive while I work through little picture love here in Philadelphia.

The black and white pictures are from a friend's trip to Haiti this Spring Break.
The pictures above are my friend Franki's from our trip to Guatemala.
There are places like this everywhere,
within the US and outside of it.

I can't always be going,
but I can be praying,
I can be giving,
I can be mindful.
At very least,
I can be grateful for what we've been blessed for.

And that is..a lot.

inspiration station

For the gallery tonight...

Similar to our decor palette.

So beautiful.

Black, Grey, Brown, Texture

A new favorite.

For spring dressing...

The outfit actually looks like it would taste like rainbow sorbet.
Sign me up.

For a house one day next year's apartment...

Perfect combo of antique-y and bright.

There's still so much going on, but this morning I read:

Keep me safe, Oh God,
for in you I take refuge.
I said to the Lord, "You are my God,"
Apart from you I have no good thing.
Ps. 16:1+2

In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
Flee like a bird to your mountain!
Ps. 11:1

I am so grateful for a place of refuge.
Life is good.
