crucial wedding update.

I got a ring guard
so that my ring doesn't fall off
while I wildly gesture.

[I've been told a few times I talk with my hands.]

that's about it.

Oh, and I told Greg he looks like a dementor in that second to last picture,
and he said,
"You're not allowed to watch Harry Potter anymore."

Ha.

Happy weekend.

...i had the best christmas.

and yes, I did take this web cam picture in the library...
and yes, my computer made that awkward clicking sound
and people probably think I sit around in the library all day taking pictures of myself,

but I'm so excited!

Happy Last day of Classes!

1.red pants-gold shirt-black sweater-black cut out wedges
[celebration outfit for last day of classes]

2. GREG COMES TOMORROW.
[that's like a weird frog face, but suffice it to say, I'm excited]

3. Only a week until
one of my best friends gets married
I see my sister and brother
and I get a month of break!

4. Happy little snowman by my bed.
I like his glitter.

I'm just listening to James Taylor,
writing a little bit,
and enjoying this happy day.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

I have a serious question.

Where the heck to all my bobby pins go?
Are they in some magical land for hair elastics, bobby pins,
all the quarters I had for laundry this semester?

I have a feeling they've all run away.

Major conspiracy.

Happy last week of classes!

sitting around

doing some busy work...

smiling because

- Greg called me for no reason this afternoon
[and asked if he could call again tonight]

-my roommate brought some really good sourdough bread home today

-I cleaned the massive cave that is underneath my bed
[and didn't die of an allergic reaction to the dust]

-I love my roommates

-my awesome sister just placed fourth in a collegiate synchronized
skating competition in Michigan! Yay Grace!

-I love the tv show Bones.
and Bones being pregnant.
and Bones and Booth shooting fake guns at each other.
and all around cuteness.
ahhhhh.
[the tv has been on in the background of my busy work, obviously]

-And He who sits on the throne said,
"Behold, I am making all things new."
And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."
Revelation 21:5

Wonderful.

Loss.

There has been a ton of loss here at PBU lately.
An excellent man of God,
who served Jesus faithfully and wisely,
passed away yesterday afternoon.

He was a man, visibly humble,
world class in his art form,
who used piano to praise his creator and redeemer.

Last night, gathered on the walkway to celebrate Christmas,
our President addressed us.
He spoke about the sadness and pain of losing Dr. Hsu and others,
and read Luke 2.
Among brothers and sisters, huddled on the walkway,
we listened to our President read of incarnation,
of God becoming man,
to love and save this fallen world.

Without dismissing the sadness of this season for the university,
we worshipped our Lord,
pain in the offering,
together.

The Christmas story is more than narrative,
it's more than happy traditions,
cookies,
and snow.

The fact of God becoming man for us,
coming to save us out of the throne room of heaven,
and loving us enough to die
brings real hope and comfort to those grieving.

Sadness remains, but Christ is real.

maze

[massive maze-like installation at a gallery in Chelsea]

sometimes I feel lost.
like all my decisions contribute to a downward spiral.
like entropy and chaos,
formed by the smallest decisions,
are gaining momentum
in an irrevocable way.

This morning felt a little like that,
and then I read:

Do not be afraid;
I am the first and the last,
and the living one;
and I was dead, and behold
I am alive forever more,
and I have the keys of death and of hell.
Revelation 1:17-18

and that literally had me breathing a sigh of relief.

today:

reading, reading, reading

vanilla tea

putting some old school CD's on my computer
[that's right...I'm looking at you B.Spears]

and maybe painting?

still thankful

sitting in my brother's bed
reading up on autism spectrum neurobiology
still thankful today for:

-my sister and brother
-pumpkin pie
-Gregory and all his ridiculousness
-scripture
-hot coffee and eggs for breakfast
-good friends in Philadelphia,
New Orleans, Colorado, and more
-and the life I have in Jesus.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone!

pictures from

gallery hopping yesterday in Chelsea.

I think my favorite picture is the one of the eyes- the lens cover didn't fully open.
Sometimes my ghetto camera works out well.

today:

praised Jesus with friends at their church

drank pumpkin spice coffee
[yum]

grad exam

brain damage reading

and packing for thanksgiving break.

have a lovely day!

my friends know me well

1. as we speak my roommate is in our room with me silent
because she knows i'm working on a to-do list
that would frighten anyone.

2. i've been getting a lot of comments about my tattoo lately
this morning, a guy behind me reached out to touch it
pet peeve- it's on the back of my neck!
(come on, people! it's a little surprising when you just touch it!)
and my friend Marjorie said- "don't do it."
the girl has my back.

giving me hope today:

who is the one who overcomes the world,
but he who believes that Jesus is the son of God?
1 John 5:4

deep breaths, I'm going to conquer this to-do list.

library day

[a favorite bracelet]
[ikea makes batteries look stylin]
[headband]

...by the way, that last picture makes our closet look organized.
it is definitely not.

today-

i'll be in the library,
working on papers and research and exams
and emails and....

hopefully it will be very productive.

here we go.

3 pictures

1. I wrote a list of all the things that have to get done before I go home for
Thanksgiving break.
It's long.
The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze,
and your strength will equal your days.
Deuteronomy 33:25

2. Favorite shoes.

3. Prized possession- My mom's old bible.
Her college roommate gave it to her in 1978.
And I get to use it in school and in life, to worship and love and adore
the same God.

Happy Tuesday!

eleveneleveneleven

[pumpkin bread with baked apples and cream cheese icing]

[braids on my head]

[green cords, navy sweater, new navy j. crew ballet flats]

[spaghetti dinner and french vanilla tea]

today:

I'm going to bake some cookies,
read a book, have lunch with one of my favorite professors,
and catch up on grad papers...

and then Greg is coming!
Not sure what the plan is for the afternoon,
but I'm excited.

this struck me this morning
[probably because I'm going to a financial seminar with Greg this weekend...fun.]

Keep your life free from the love of money,
and be content with what you have, for he has said,
"I will never leave you nor forsake you."
So we can confidently say,
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear; what can man do to me?"

Hebrews 13:5-6

have a lovely weekend!

I don't know what it is...

not sure what it is about today,
but nothing looks better to me than my bed.

today

reading research on neurotheology

running
[if i ever get out of bed]

making dinner with a long lost friend

bible study tonight

the word of God is living and active.
sharper than any double edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit,
joints and marrow,
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

please excuse this

long series of pictures of greg and I coloring at my apartment.

I just love him.
[and dinosaurs]

adorn.

[my hair today-frizzy]
[moving my spring/summer stuff out of the rotation]
[little reminder I wrote on my hand the other day]
[there is still snow on the ground. what?!? get out of here.]

For class this week, we studied 1&2 Timothy and Titus.
I love this:

I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed.
2 Timothy 1:12

and this:

that we may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
Titus 2:10

I love that I know my God,
that I know my purpose is in him,
and that my life can bring glory to him
and adorn the gospel of grace.
